Paving the Way for Ag-based Asphalt Preservation Solutions (Webinar)

Transportation budgets are a persistent and growing challenge– from the maintenance of asphalt infrastructure to funding new roads. To extend the service life of existing and new asphalt roads, the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) engaged in a multi-year effort to understand the impact of using agriculturally derived materials in asphalt preservation.

Starting in 2016 with a partnership between the City of Hutchinson and the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council, AURI researchers began a multi-year research project for an environmentally friendly product for communities across Minnesota to consider.

Dr. Jimmy Gosse takes participants on a five-year road trip through the case study on the use of RePlay Agricultural Oil and Preservation Agent® by the City of Hutchinson. A preview of the soon-to-be-released independent Life Cycle Cost Analysis by SRF Consulting Group is provided.

This research was funded by the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council. Read more on how rural growers are contributing to preserving Minnesota’s roads by visiting AURI’s partnership page with the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council.
