The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) is hosting a discussion on the innovations and new trends in Minnesota’s growing brewing industry. The webinar “Oktoberfest — A Celebration of Brewing in Minnesota” runs from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12.
The webinar will feature a sample of Minnesota’s craft beer advocates, producers and ingredient suppliers who will share their thoughts and experiences.
The session follows the annual Oktoberfest, a 17-day festival in Munich, Germany that celebrates German food and beer and the Bavarian tradition of höflichkeit, or cordiality.
The state’s craft brewing industry has grown exponentially in the last decade. According to research from the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, there were 39 breweries in Minnesota in 2012. Today, there are more than 220. The industry generated $1 billion in economic activity during 2019 from production, food service at on-site restaurants and capital investments.
The webinar is free and open to the public. Media members are invited to attend. For more information, or to register, visit the event page.
AURI Connects: Webinar Wednesday is a monthly webinar series hosted by AURI. Each session explores different aspects of the food and ag sectors in Minnesota—from resources for food entrepreneurs to innovations in coproducts and biobased energy.
