About this report:
A survey was conducted of Minnesota-based agricultural product processors to identify which, if any, lower value coproducts may present opportunities for value generation beyond current use. The survey focused on biofuels, meat processors, food processors and dairy processors.
Conclusions:
The industry segments covered by this analysis in Minnesota are extremely efficient in using their feedstock, and a relatively small amount of underutilized coproducts are present. As a result, very little if any, of the coproducts end up in landfills or become an environmental liability.
Project outcomes:
There are some opportunities in the dairy processing industry; including some serum and whey-processing streams.
