Crookston, Minn.—AURI has been awarded a $99,000 grant to assist more than a dozen biomass projects in eleven counties throughout rural Minnesota. The funding comes through USDA Rural Development from funds provided in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), signed into law by President Obama in February of 2009. In the battle to reach consumers, AURI and the Minnesota Beef Council are helping to give Minnesota meat processors and retailers an edge. Two seminars are planned in April at the AURI meat lab in Marshall to help train processors on cutting techniques aimed at meeting the demands of today’s consumers.
