Feedstock Findings

Anaerobic digesters perform best when fed the right diet. An AURI initiative is giving northwest Minnesota processors a better idea of what’s on the menu. An AURI-sponsored study inventoried northwest Minnesota feedstocks. Governor signs Ag Bill, includes AURI funding

Governor Mark Dayton has signed the Omnibus Agriculture Finance Bill which provides funding for Minnesota’s agricultural programs, including AURI. The Ag Bill is the first funding measure passed and signed during the 2011 legislative session. Praised by many as an example of bipartisan cooperation, the bill appropriates nearly $79 million dollars for agricultural programs and projects. Cooperative Capacity

A USDA-awarded grant is helping AURI boost capacity for helping agricultural cooperatives in the state. The Rural Cooperative Development grant will help AURI provide greater scientific technical assistance, project facilitation and organizational development assistance to new and existing cooperatives in the areas of local food marketing and distribution, dairy processing, livestock feed processing, food processing and renewable energy.
