For many agricultural processors, finding efficient ways to dry raw materials or processing leftovers is a challenge. AURI is leading an effort to match those looking for improved material handling with available and emerging technologies.
Several dozen agricultural processors and industry representatives gathered in Willmar for AURI’s second dryer technology demonstration event.
AURI scientist Kevin Hennessy says in addition to reducing processing bottlenecks and reducing drying costs, processors are looking at new technologies to open potential new markets. “For example, depending on the technology, dairy digester solids could be used as fuel or fertilizer. New markets could be opened up for processors if their drying was more efficient.”
Another benefit of the dryer technology demonstration events is to listen to the needs of Minnesota’s ag processors.
