Fields of Innovation: Growing and Developing Markets for Minnesota Oilseeds

AURI Connects: Fields of Innovation — Growing and Developing Markets for Minnesota Oilseeds
How will Minnesota farmers meet the demand for additional oilseed crops and which cropping systems are well suited to make efficient use of available land?

With renewable biofuels driving demand for oilseeds, soy, canola, and sunflowers have and will continue to be important feedstocks. Growing demand will also open opportunities to fill supply gaps with emerging oilseed crops such as winter camelina and pennycress, in addition to animal fats.

The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) is proud to present this event in partnership with the AURI Connects: Fields of Innovation 2023 sponsors, Bremer Bank and the Mainstreet Businesses Focused on Food and Agriculture (MBFFA) Initiative. Join us for a hybrid in-person event (with virtual option) at the University of Minnesota Northwest Research and Outreach Center’s Youngquist Auditorium in Crookston, MN on June 9, 2023, followed by a tour of the new Ag Innovation Campus. Engage with oilseed industry stakeholders working to navigate the inherent challenges represented by an increased demand for renewable oil feedstocks and the marketplace shifts that present additional potential utilization opportunities for these crops.

NOTE: We would also like to make you aware of a partner event on June 8th in complement to AURI’s event on June 9th. “Oil Seeds and Soil Needs,” hosted by the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service at its Swan Lake Research Farm in Morris, MN will focus on production, agronomy and soil health developments for oilseeds in the Upper Midwest For more information, click here.
