AURI Hosts Series on New Markets for Minnesota Oilseeds

March 18, 2024 – The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI), Bremer Bank, and Avisen Legal are sponsoring a three-part innovation series on the wide-ranging subject of supply chain development for novel and specialty crops in the Midwest and Upper Midwest.

The first part of this virtual series is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024. The discussion will focus on factors producers should consider when exploring crop diversification. Particular emphasis will be on the pathways, gaps, and mechanisms that create market stability and commercialization of new crops. There will be additional discussion on the basics of agronomic practices, whether the novel crops require stacked incentives, and how farmers get paid. Additionally, the webinar will cover early aggregation efforts as new crop adoption scales and the burden of establishing early supply chain infrastructure.

This event is part of the AURI Connects: Fields of Innovation platform. Fields of Innovation convenes Minnesota’s regional ag and food value chains to build capacity and accelerate the commercialization of new crop and livestock opportunities, including new traits for existing crops. By connecting innovation and market development with value chain partners, the Fields of Innovation program aims to build a robust ecosystem in Minnesota and border states that will provide ag producers and value chain partners with new market opportunities.
