Legislative Appointment
Representative Rick Hansen was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2004. A member of the Democratic Farmer Labor (DFL) Party, Rep. Hansen currently serves as the Chair of the Agriculture Committee and served as Chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee from 2019-2025. He is also a co-chair of the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR), which uses lottery funds to protect Minnesota’s environment. Rick has a master’s degree in Soil Management from Iowa State University, and he lives in South St. Paul with his wife Suzanne and their son Evan and has a farm in Southern Minnesota.
