Discover how to harness an indispensable element in soil and crop health, while managing environmental impact
The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI) is hosting a webinar on nitrogen as part of a series focused on climate change opportunities for value-added ag businesses.
The free event will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, and is sponsored by Bremer Bank and Avisen Legal. Registration is now open.
Minnesota’s ag economy is well-positioned to adapt and evolve to a changing climate, with a focus on climate resiliency and reducing carbon intensity. Nitrogen is an essential element in fertilizers used to maximize agricultural productivity. However, careful nitrogen management is critical to preserving clean air and water.
A panel of experts will discuss a variety of topics related to nitrogen at this webinar, including:
• The pros and cons of fertilizers on the market and in development
• How recycling nitrogen from organic waste offers a sustainable alternative that can reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers
• Effective processing and management practices to reduce environmental impacts, including runoff and inconsistent yields
• Developments in the decarbonization of synthetic nitrogen
Speakers:
• Anton Krimer, Sr. Associate Climate Aligned Industries Program, RMI
• Lori Macro, Sustainability & Downstream Engagement Lead, Landus
• Mike Reese, Director of Operations, West Central Research & Outreach Center, UMN
• Dr. David Ripplinger, Associate Professor, North Dakota State University
• Miguel Oliveras, Technical Service Provider Program Coordinator – Central Region, USDA NRCS
• Brad Matuska, Business Development Director, AURI
This is the fourth and final webinar highlighting climate change opportunities. The entire series is available on AURI’s YouTube channel.
