Director of Marketing Communications

AURI is seeking a self-motivated and experienced Marketing Communications Director to lead our marketing and communications efforts. As the Director of Marketing Communications, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing initiatives to promote AURI’s mission, programs, services, outcomes and impacts. You will oversee one staff member, manage service providers, engage with external partners, and collaborate with internal teams to create compelling marketing campaigns and raise awareness of AURI’s programs and impacts.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute marketing campaigns / strategies to enhance AURI’s visibility and brand recognition.
• Provide strategic marketing counsel to AURI’s leadership team and board.
• Manage and oversee digital marketing initiatives, including website optimization, email marketing, and social media campaigns.
• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, and key stakeholders to generate positive publicity and media coverage.
• Communicate AURI’s impacts with key stakeholders, including legislators, funding and program partners, and food and agricultural industry leaders.
• Track and analyze marketing metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and develop compelling content that effectively communicates AURI’s services and impacts.
• Create and manage the production of marketing collateral, including brochures, newsletters, press releases, website content, podcasts, social media posts, etc.
• Manage the marketing communications budget and the efficient allocation of resources.
• Provide support and coordination for AURI events, conferences, and workshops that promote services, initiatives and impacts.
• Monitor industry trends to help identify opportunities that align with AURI’s mission.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing communications, preferably in the bio-industrial, food, or agricultural industries.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey applied research findings, project client successes, and industry opportunities in a clear and engaging manner.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in digital marketing, including social media management, email marketing, and website content management.
• Proficiency in using marketing automation tools, analytics platforms, and content management systems.
• Knowledge of agricultural and food practices, value-added agriculture opportunities, and industry trends is highly desirable.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
